Keeping your system running cool isn’t just about tossing some fans in it and hoping for the best. Bitfenix knows this and they’ve just launched the Recon and Hydra Pro fan controller allowing you to fully take control of your computers cooling system. Fan controllers can be used to keep your system quiet but when you need extra cooling performance you can just turn them up to high and find a nice balance between sound and cooling abilities. So check them out…

BitFenix is proud to introduce two brand new fan controllers designed to put the user in the driver’s seat – Recon™ and Hydra Pro™. Recon is the world’s first Internet-connected fan controller, offering total control even on the go. Hydra Pro delivers powerful 30W per channel performance and, when combined with BitFenix Spectre and Spectre Pro LED fans, convenient push-button LED on/off functionality.

"Users have been clamoring for these two devices for a while now, and I’m proud to report that the wait is finally over," says BitFenix Product Manager David Jarlestedt. "With Recon and Hydra Pro, BitFenix once again takes our disruptive ideas and brings them into a new design space – fan controllers. Offering never-before-seen functionality at competitive price points, Recon and Hydra Pro are set to become the go-to thermal control devices for enthusiasts the world over."

Recon

Designed for the new age of mobile devices, Recon is the world’s first Internet-connected fan controller. After installing the included Windows-based software, this five-channel fan controller enables users to connect to it using smartphones, tablets or laptops via the Internet. Once connected, users can monitor and adjust their fans and temperatures via their mobile device. Best of all, the mobile interface is browser-based, which means it is compatible with virtually any mobile operating system, including iOS, Android, or Windows. At home, the easy-to-use touchscreen interface displays current system temperatures and fan speeds, while giving easy access to the Recon’s advanced functionality.

Recon sports two specially-designed microprocessors that continuously interact with your motherboard, providing real-time status monitoring and control. Users can also save presets and recall up to three presets on-the-fly, making quick adjustments push-button simple. And to keep things looking awesome, Recon’s SofTouch™ bezel delivers a luxurious matte finish and soft feel. With Recon, users are always in total control of their system – even on the go.

Hydra Pro

Two devices in one, Hydra Pro combines a powerful fan controller with an LED control device. Its five thermal channels deliver up to 30W of power each, and are easily controlled via low-profile sliders that make it compatible with a wide variety of cases – even those with doors.

But when coupled with BitFenix Spectre and Spectre Pro LED fans, Hydra Pro really begins to shine. Users can connect their Spectre and Spectre Pro LED fans to Hydra Pro using the two pin cable that comes with every Spectre and Spectre Pro LED fan. Once connected, users can control fan LEDs with a single button push. Featuring signature BitFenix SofTouch™ surface treatment on the outside, Hydra Pro makes an attractive addition to virtually any system.

NZXT constantly pursues innovative ways to manufacture the best cases possible in the market. During the development of Switch 810, a lot of passion went into the design phase of this chassis and many bold decisions were made. We incorporated more than 16 features in our chassis while keeping an attractive price point consumers would find highly valuable.

We wanted to ensure that our chassis is not only a great case for you now, but can evolve with technological advances and remain up-to-date for many years to come.

Without our community’s valuable feedback and criticisms, our products would not be as unique as they are today. We always aim to maintain customer satisfaction through providing high quality products at great prices, which is why we decided to release the Special Edition to feature two of the most demanded color palettes from our loyal fans: Matte Black and Gunmetal. The community voiced their opinion and we responded. This is our way of showing that NZXT cares.

The Switch 810 Special Edition is now available in Matte Black and Gunmetal at the NZXT Store, priced at $179.99 MSRP.

Wow, check this out, a self-destructing SSD drive for true security! We’re not talking just erasing the data, this thing physically destroys the chips in the SSD by overloading them electrically! Now that is security at it’s finest. I don’t think mnay of us in the private sector would have a use for it, but I’m sure businesses could. There’s a video for you demonstrating the SSD and showing the fried chips, check it out:

RunCore, leading supplier of high-performance solid-state drives, announces the global launch of their InVincible Solid State Disc drive. This SATA SSD solution provides for highest data security through a special button device that allows for total physical destruction with a single click.

The RunCore InVincible SSDs allow you to protect sensitive data from third party access in two ways with a single click. One method is the intelligent elimination of all your data through overwriting the entire disk with meaningless code. This overwrite-deletion method ensures that there is no way to potentially recover previous data stored to the device, effectively setting you SSD back to factory default.

A less subtle method is the physical destruction of your SSD by applying an over-current to the NAND flash memory and thereby physically destroying these. The RunCore InVincible product series is catering to embedded computer systems requiring high-speed serial switched fabric interconnects for rugged design implementation and more flexible power ranges. Delivering optimized storage options particularly in mission-critical fields such aerospace, defense and general industrial applications.

With these devices your private data protection is entering an entirely new stage of security. This is especially important in an ever more mobile environment were sensitive data and information are frequently being carried along, making it a potential risk to being used by unauthorized 3rd parties. With the RunCore InVincible you now have a highly advanced data protection solution for most demanding professional usage which is also suited for the private sector where data security is becoming an ever more important concern.

Yep, I quit buying games on launch day. I used to always try and get them but I’m tired of paying to be a paid beta tester. The whole Skyrim debacle has just really put an end to me buying new games. I got Skyrim for the PS3 on launch day and really couldn’t play it for months, that’s just sickening to make people go through that and I refuse to do it anymore.

What this means for mobile computing? Well it means better graphics, and a better performing CPU but it’s all using less power meaning you can play better for longer!

The 2nd-Generation A-Series APU, codenamed “Trinity”, is a grounds-up improved design over the previous generation, enabling a best-in-class PC mobility, entertainment, and gaming experience. New features of the product design include:

Double the performance per watt of the previous generation;2

The AMD HD Media Accelerator with a unique set of technologies designed to optimize video quality available with premium and Internet video content, and accelerate video file conversion;

An increase in CPU performance of up to 29 percent<sup>3</sup> with higher processor speeds thanks to the next-generation AMD “Piledriver” CPU core with 3rd-Generation AMD Turbo Core technology, where power is dynamically shifted between the CPU and GPU depending on application needs, effectively providing a more responsive experience that can boost CPU frequencies to up to 3.2 GHz;

AMD Radeon™ HD 7000 Series graphics for an increase of graphics performance up to 56% over the previous generation.<sup>4</sup> Combined, the CPU and GPU cores deliver more than 700 gigaflops of computing performance<sup>5</sup> – several times more than the fastest x86 CPUs – to boost performance of hundreds of applications;

Up to 12 hours of battery life through CPU and GPU power enhancements, with clear battery life leadership in notebook form factors.

“The latest OEM notebooks, ultrathins, All-in-Ones and desktops based on the new AMD A-Series APU enable the best video and gaming experiences, highly responsive performance with AMD Turbo CORE, and accelerate an ever-increasing range of productivity and multimedia applications — in sleek, stylish designs at price points that make sense,” said Chris Cloran, corporate vice president and General Manager, AMD Client Business Unit. “Our 2nd-Generation AMD A-Series APU is a major step forward in every performance and power dimension, allowing users to enjoy a stunning experience without having to give up the things that matter to them most. This experience doesn’t stop at mainstream notebooks. It carries over into affordable ultrathin form factors featuring the latest in AMD Radeon™ graphics.”

The Growing AMD Accelerated Application Ecosystem

The developer ecosystem continues to gravitate to the unmatched level of compute and unique processing capabilities of the APU as more than 100 applications and games are now accelerated by AMD APUs. The 2nd-Generation AMD A-Series APU gives users superior Web-based video experience thanks to plug-ins for Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 9 that make it easy for consumers to turn on AMD Steady Video technology.6 Recent applications that have been optimized for use on AMD A-Series APUs include Adobe Photoshop CS6, WinZip 16.5 and VLC Media Player. AMD A-Series APUs are also well-positioned to take advantage of the upcoming transition to the Windows® 8 operating system.

“We are excited for the introduction of the 2nd-Generation AMD A-Series APU and are confident it will continue the great work Microsoft and AMD have done together on the A-Series APU,” said Aidan Marcuss, senior director, Windows Business Planning, Microsoft Corp. “We look forward to seeing the A-Series APU in action with Windows 8 to deliver a great user experience across a variety of hardware.”

For developers who want to engage in the industry’s move toward heterogeneous computing, the upcoming AMD Fusion12 Developer Summit will offer them a unique opportunity to enhance their knowledge base. More information on AFDS can be found here.

Unmatched Mobility

With more than 12 hours of ‘resting’ battery life, AMD is now an industry leader in notebook battery-life performance. The 2nd-Generation AMD A-Series APU delivers increased levels of performance, while consuming half the power as its predecessor.

These gains can be attributed to the new power-optimized “Piledriver” CPU core, as well as to AMD Start Now technology, which is designed to maximize system responsiveness by quickly entering and exiting low power states. With AMD Start Now, the computer resumes from sleep mode in as few as two seconds and boots to the desktop in as few as 10 seconds.7

In ultrathin form factors, AMD enables an uncompromised visual experience thanks to a power-efficient and premium AMD Radeon graphics engine. Consumers can expect to see ultrathin notebooks based on dual-core 17-watt and quad-core 25-watt AMD A-Series APUs. These products will be easily identifiable by aluminum-styled VISION Technology stickers at a range of competitive price points.

Best-in-class Entertainment

As more and more people turn to their computers as the hub for their entertainment, the visual aspect of computing becomes ever more important. To enhance these capabilities, AMD created the AMD HD Media Accelerator – a unique set of technologies that enable the best video quality on a PC. Key features of the HD Media Accelerator include:

AMD Perfect Picture HD – An image, video processing and display technology that automatically makes images and video better with color vibrancy adjustments, edge enhancement, noise reduction and dynamic contrast fixes;8

AMD Steady Video Technology – A technology that enables smooth playback of jittery video content with a single button click thanks to plug-ins for popular Web browsers and multimedia applications;6

AMD Quick Stream Technology – A new technology that prioritizes video streaming on PC systems for a smooth, virtually uninterrupted video stream;

True HD video chat with up to four people at once;

AMD Video Converter – A video compression engine for fast conversion and sharing of media files across multiple formats and devices;

Full decode support for H.264, MPEG-2, VC-1, MVC, DivX and WMV.

Gaming Leadership

The 2nd-Generation AMD A-Series APU builds on AMD’s legacy of gaming leadership with an increase in graphics performance of up to 56% over the previous generation4 and support for:

AMD Eyefinity Technology – For the first time, this immersive technology is available from an APU without the need for a discrete graphics card;10

Performance-leading DirectX® 11 graphics architecture and 1080p gaming a life-like level of detail;

AMD Radeon dual graphics support that delivers a performance boost of up to 75 percent when adding a discrete graphics card to the APU.11 The AMD Radeon dual graphics option also offers support for DirectX® 9 for older game titles, and uses new AMD CrossFire™ Technology Profiles for easier updates.

They’re just announced the Performer and Pro models with an announcement that they’ll be introducing an Extreme model this summer. The Performer versions I more of the low-end of the scale for those that want water cooling but aren’t really interested in overclocking. The Pro model is for gamers and enthusiast and the Extreme model is of course for those that want it all.

WATER2.0 Performer- Price Does Not Compromise Performance Even with the great value of the WATER2.0 Performer it uses a top quality engineered performance 25mm radiator.

WATER2.0 Pro- A Step Above The WATER2.0 Pro take the Performer design even further by applying a thicker high performance radiator which allows for more surface area and better cooling potential

WATER2.0 Extreme- When "Good Enough" is Not The WATER2.0 Extreme is for the user who wants the absolute best performance with room to push the limit. With a expanded 240mm radiator the WATER2.0 extreme can push the limits of an extreme platform.

Here’s the product page for the Pro but if you’ll scroll down there’s a nice comparison chart of all of them included: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1444&ID=2116

Amazon has the Performer listed for $69.99 right now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B007UIX1RO/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1336501858&sr=8-1&condition=new

and the Pro for $99.99 now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B007UIX1M4/ref=sr_1_3_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1336501858&sr=8-3&condition=new

That’s not bad for a liquid cooling setup like this I think..

Skype announced today that Skype video calling is now available on PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita), expanding Skype video calling capabilities to a portable gaming device for the first time. PS Vita, which launched in early 2012, will offer video calling capabilities and voice calling on both the Wi-Fi and 3G models. PS Vita users can download the application for free from PlayStation®Store later today*.

"Our users appreciate being able to access Skype features wherever and whenever they choose," saidManrique Brenes, senior director, consumer electronics group at Skype. "With the launch of Skype for PS Vita, we are taking another step towards our ultimate goal of making Skype video calling available on every platform, all over the world, and meeting the demands of existing PlayStation users to offer video on a gaming console."

Skype on PS Vita runs in "background mode" for users while gaming or using other applications* and users have the capability to "pause" a game, conduct a call and then return to their previous activity. Additionally, PS Vita features both front and rear facing cameras, which allows users to switch back and forth between the two during a Skype call. This is a great benefit of never missing a call even when playing a game or using another app.

PS Vita is available for $249.99 (MSRP) for Wi-Fi and $299.99 (MSRP) for Wi-Fi/3G models. The device is also equipped with a 5" OLED touch screen, dual analog sticks, front touchscreen and rear touch pad, two cameras and a built in microphone.

Twelve time world champion Fatal1ty was one of the first users to test-drive the application.

"As a gaming enthusiast, I am always in search for a next big thing," said Fatal1ty. "When I heard Skype was going to be featured on PS Vita, my first thought was this was going to be the device that sets the bar for all new gaming consoles-connecting with family and friends while playing your favorite game."
