Hands-free driving is no longer optional but in most states it is mandatory. To help keep folks from breaking the laws SuperTooth have released their latest Bluetooth car speakerphone-the SuperTooth HD VOICE. This hands-free speakerphone simply attaches a vehicle’s sun visor via a magnetic clip allowing the user to partake in the hands-free calls while driving. Aesthetically this version looks like the previous model the SuperTooth HD, what differentiates the two is the change in firmware.

The SuperTooth HD VOICE features two speakers with 5-Watt audio output and a 5.4 Watt amplifier. Its dual speaker design also includes a dual noise canceller and a dual microphone. It comes with 12 spoken languages preprogrammed including British English, American English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Mexican Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Japanese and Polish.

SuperTooth makes this a truly hands-free unit by announcing the name of the caller and allowing the user to pick up calls simply by saying the word “OK”.

SuperTooth HD Voice Review

The SuperTooth HD VOICE arrives in a black and blue cardboard box with the device pictured through a clear plastic window. On the sides of the box are a full-scale image of the device along with its dimensions and a pictographic list of features. On the back of the box are some written features in ten languages along with the contents of the package.

Opening the box we find the SuperTooth HD VOICE, a USB to Micro-USB cable, USB car charger, sun visor metal clip, user manual and Quick Start guide.

The SuperTooth HD VOICE is composed of matte black plastic with a brush metallic plate over the main section. It is solidly built and measures 12.5 x 5.9 x 2.5 cm while weighing 112 g. Looking at the front part of the Bluetooth speaker we see the SuperTooth logo at the bottom. The main section of the device is comprised of the main controls including the end/reject buttons, on/off button, volume control button and LED indicator lights for Bluetooth and charge.

Below the SuperTooth logo are the speakers. The right side of the device holds the charger and update plug which fits a Micro-USB connector. On top just above the volume button is the microphone.

On the backside of the device are two powerful magnets that attach the SuperTooth HD VOICE to the metallic clip that rests on the vehicle’s sun visor.

Other than the matte black plastic used on this version there is nothing else to differentiate it externally from the earlier SuperTooth HD.

The USB car charger is a low profile style with an LED indicator light.

Can we ever have enough power? I’m sure there has been many times you’ve forgotten to charge your phone, tablet or other portable devices and have wondered where you’re going to get power for them. Sure there are accessories out there for you car and other travel needs, but what if a power receptacle isn’t available? What if you’re camping, or hiking somewhere as last I checked there are no power outlets in trees. You need portable power, but many of those types of devices on the market today are rather small really in terms of capacity and how many charges it will give and just what it will charge. Many of those portable charges for example won’t charge a tablet, just not enough juice to get the job done.

Today for review I’ve got one of the newest products from EagleTech that really doesn’t have any fancy name, it’s simply called the Neptor External Battery Pack. There are a few things that separate this portable battery pack from others on the market today. The first of them being the rather large 10,000mAh battery that’s inside of it that can charge most anything from phones to tablets. The second thing, and one of the most important I think, is the battery is user replaceable. The third thing that separates this from others out there is the fact that you don’t need any special tips or adapters, so there’s no additional cost. Some battery packs on the market are pricey initially, but then you have to go and spend more money on different tips for all the devices you would like to charge. You can easily end up spending close to or as much as the battery pack itself just on tips. The Neptor battery pack works very well at charging basically anything that can be charged over USB without the need for adapters and it has two USB ports, one with 2.1a and one with .5a output. So read on to learn more about what I think is one of the best portable power solutions on the market today…

The packaging is attractive for the Neptor external battery pack. There’s a nice picture on the front of the product and then some spec and features listed on the back. When you open it you’ll find another box, so it’s actually a box inside of a box.

When you open the second box you’ll be greeted with the top of the carrying case actually.

The carrying case is very nice, it’s zippered closed most of the way around and on the side is a regular microUSB cable. The case is semi-hard and does have padding on the top, bottom and sides.

When you open the carrying case you’ll find the user manual and the Neptor battery pack itself. The battery pack is held securely in place in the case by an elastic band. The inside of the carrying case is covered with a soft black cloth material and on the top half you’ll find a net style pocket to hold your cables etc.

The Neptor battery pack comes in either black or white colors and I got the white for review. The front of the Neptor housing is plastic. The unit itself seems very well made and sturdy, it’s heavier than it looks, but then again it does have a rather large battery inside of it.

On the top you’ll see the name and the battery capacity.

On the bottom of the front you’ll find three LEDs to indicate power levels and charging, along with labels for the USB ports on the edge and a large silver button. The button is used to check the power level or turn it on and off. Yes you can manually turn the Neptor off and on for charging.

Here’s the front edge which has two USB ports, one is 2100mA and the other is 500mA. The center microUSB port is for charging the Neptor itself.

The bottom if the Neptor is a solid metal plate, aluminum it seems to be.

On both the right and left sides you’ll find tabs which are locks, they’re used to unlock the Neptor to get to the battery inside.

You just have to squeeze the tabs and slide the bottom metal cover off, fairly simple to do, but the tabs do hold the cover on tightly. The battery takes up about three-fourths of the housing.

The 10,000mAh battery gets connected to the Neptor unit via a two wire connection that ends in a plug. You can replace the battery whenever you need to.

To give you an idea of the size of the Neptor battery pack here’s a regular 2.5” hard drive with it for comparison. The battery pack isn’t what I would call tiny, but it isn’t overly large at all, it really is portable.

These aren’t just for travelers of course, anyone who likes good sound and the ability to keep outside noise out will appreciate the Walker Junior headphones.
i-Mego Walker Junior Noise Cancelling Headphones Review

The i-Mego Walker Junior headphones come in an attractive looking box with specs and features listed on the back for you to learn more about the product inside.

The blue outside is actually more of a slipcover and when you remove that you’ll find a black box with the i-Mego logo on it.

When you open the box you’ll find the Walker Junior nestled into a plastic tray for protection while in transport. The accessories are in plastic bags in a center section of the tray.

When you unpack the box you’ll find two accessory bags, the user manual and the headphones themselves.

Inside of one of the plastic bags you’ll find four things, an AAA battery, airplane adapter, 1/4” stereo adapter and a 4ft cord.

The Walker Junior headphones don’t have the audio cord attached, it’s on the side.

Inside of the other plastic bag you’ll find the carrying bag rolled up. When you unroll the bag you’ll see it mesh and cloth with a drawstring on it.

So here are the headphones and yes they are black in color which is the only color available for these. The earpieces have an X design that looks stitched but it isn’t it, it just looks that way. The Walker Junior feels solidly made, they are plastic, but they feel durable and able to withstand regular usage.

The earpads are oval in shape, which is more natural and the shape of your ears so they fit better than the common round style I think.

The earpads have a leather covering over memory foam padding making them very comfortable.

Music is a huge part of our lives, I know I don’t leave home without my MP3 player and if I do happen to forget it I have music on my phone. The problem with these mp3 players and phones is that the headphones that comes with them usually aren’t best especially if you like good sounding music. Today for review I have the i-Mego Throne headphones, these are over the ear style and in my time with them I found them to be excellent overall in sound and build quality. The sound from the Throne headphones is crisp and full and clear, but they might be a little bit heavy on the bass and slightly light on the treble. It just all depends on the type of music you prefer to listen to. The Throne headphones might be considered expensive by some, coming in at about $130, but for good sound you have to pay a little more and these are definitely worth the price. So read on to learn more about the i-Mego Throne headphones…

i-Mego Throne Gold Over Ear Headphones Review

As you might expect with a product of this quality, the packaging is nice and just looks great. The front opens to let you see the Throne headphones.

On the back is a lot of information about the headphones.

The Throne headphones are packaged very well in a plastic protective casing inside of the box.

When you get everything unpacked you’ll find the user manual, cloth carrying bag, stereo adapter and adapter for Nokia, Samsung and Sony phones.

Here’s the two adapters so you can get a better look:

The carrying bag is just a drawstring style cloth bag, nothing really special or protective about it.

Here’s the headphones themselves. The i-Mego Throne headphones come in several colors, but the ones I got are gold. The headphones have leather earpads and headband.

In-line of the cord you’ll find the microphone and button so you can use these for phone calls if you need to.

The earpieces are very soft, they’re made of leather on the outside and have memory foam inside.

If you’ll notice the earpieces aren’t round like many other, they’re elongated or an oval shape which more matches the natural shape of your ears.

The Throne Gold gets its name from the color of the outside of the earpieces which isn’t really gold, more of a copper I think. The pieces are adjustable up and down to fit your head size and they’re also on swivels in the centers.

Here’s a better look at the top section that adjust up and down. There’s a large range of adjustment so you can use them no matter how big your head is, or if you’re wearing a hat they’ll fit just fine.

The top of the headband of the Throne has the i-Mego logo stitched into the leather. It looks nice and it’s not flashy, it sort of blends in.

The inside of the headband isn’t leather, instead it’s a soft cloth material for comfort and of course it’s nicely padded as well.

The HTC One is a remarkable phone, it’s a nicely made device, just gorgeous really, but it’s thin and I think it’s rather fragile. I know I wouldn’t want to drop it from any height at all without fear of damage. Such a nice looking device as the HTC One needs to be protected, the phone just looks very nice and it would be a shame for anything to damage those great looks so this is certainly one phone that needs a rugged and durable case to protect it to keep it looking so good. One such case is what I have for review today from Seidio, the case is the Active and what I have is actually the combination set which actually includes the case and a handy holster so it will always be handy right on your hip. The case itself is two parts, an inner soft rubber layer and an outer hard plastic layer which together provide excellent protection for the phone inside. The case also has a built-in metal kickstand so you can set the phone up and view it easily and comfortably. The second part of the set is the holster which is made from hard plastic, it features a spring lock to hold the phone in place no matter what you’re doing. The case does have one small flaw though, read on to learn more….

Seidio Active Case Combo for HTC One Review

The Seidio Active Case Combo comes in a rather hard to open package. The container is both plastic and cardboard but the cardboard is firmly attached to the plastic and I really had to work at it and I ended up ripping it off and destroying it in the process. Not a big deal of course as most people don’t keep packaging, just thought it was worth mentioning.

Once you get the cardboard off you’re left with the plastic outer case for the Active case. It’s hard plastic so it will more than protect the Active while in transit to you.

The Active Combo is both the case and the holster. You can purchase them separately if you want as I know not everyone uses a holster.

The holster actually locks onto the case with a spring clip on the top.

The inside of the holster is a felt like material, that’s the part that the screen of the HTC One will be facing.

The holster features a large and sturdy spring loaded clip and it can also can rotate so you can have the phone either vertical or horizontal or even angled on your belt.

Inside of the Active case you’ll find installation instructions for the case itself and how to use the holster.

The case comes assembled, but it’s in two parts really, a hard outer case and an inner soft rubber case.

The Active case has a built-in metal kickstand so you can enjoy using your phone in landscape or widescreen mode which is great for video watching on the nice large screen of the HTC One.

Here’s the two parts of the case separated, without the phone they come apart very easily.

Here’s a few views of the soft and hard parts of the case for you:

For today’s review we will be looking at an iPhone 5 case from a company called Tech21 whose product focus is impact protection for your mobile devices. They use a technology called Impactology, which is supposed to evenly disperse the energy from an impact. A material called D3O is the secret to their products is actually used by the military for its impact protection on the battlefield.

We will be looking at the Impact Snap with Cover Case for the iPhone 5. This is a minimalistic hardshell case with a leather front cover that protects the phone’s front screen while giving the case a more sophisticated appearance.

The product arrives in clear plastic box with the case visualized within. On the back is an image of the case along with a description of its features. A QR code links to the Tech21 website.

Opening the package we find just the case itself. Tech21 offers the Impact Snap with Cover Case in four colors – black, blue, purple and white. For our review we will be looking at the blue version.

The case is composed of a polycarbonate back that houses the iPhone 5. The inner portion of the case has two orange rubbery panels to secure the iPhone 5 in place and a honeycomb pattern in the center. Whether this is a structural implementation or just for design that is unknown.

Looking at the outer portion of this section we see off the left-hand side an attached leather flip cover. The case is open on three sides allowing access to the dock connector, speakers and headphone jack on the bottom, the volume and mute switch on the left-hand side and the power button on top. The right-hand side of the iPhone 5 is protected by the case.

On the back is an opening for the camera and flash along with the Tech21 Impactology logo embossed on the bottom.

The front of the cover is smooth leather with stitching on the periphery that is the same color as the case and cover. The inside cover is a velvety material with the D3O logo on the bottom.

Overall the Impact Snap with Cover case is a very low profile case for the iPhone 5. It only adds a slight amount of bulk to the phone’s form factor.

Impact Snap with Cover

Blue – iPhone 5

The Impact Snap with Cover for iPhone 5 is the ultimate impact protection case, integrated with D3O® and 100% Impactology approved thanks to our obsessive research and development.

With its minimalistic, yet revolutionary, hard shell polycarbonate casing, the Impact Snap with Cover simply clips on to the back of your iPhone 5 to provide high-impact protection. Meanwhile, an additional, leather flip cover protects the phone’s front screen. Access to all ports and function buttons are retained when the Impact Snap with Cover is securely attached to your phone.

What is impactology?

Originally devised in response to increasing customer demand, few have gone further than Tech21 in turning impact protection into a science. Our technology is testimony to the innovative scientific thinking and inspirational commitment that informs everything we do.
Impactology is a defining seal of approval, so you’ll know that when surrounded by one of our cases your mobile device, tablet or laptop has the highest standard of impact protection available.
Technological advances are never achieved by copying your competitors. Impactology makes a difference because Tech21 is the only brand dedicated enough to turn protection into more than just a veneer.

How does it work?

Impactology combines advanced science and pioneering innovation to deliver a unique, new level of protection for mobile devices, tablets and laptops. However, you don’t need to be a mad scientist with a PhD to see exactly how effective it can be.
It’s all about the molecules inside the revolutionary D3O Impact Material. In everyday use, the molecules flow freely, but upon shock or impact they lock together – absorbing the impact force and spreading the shock evenly across the surface of the material. That means your device stays in one piece, no matter how hard the impact!
What makes Impactology unique is the secret ingredient D3O Impact Material used within our designs. It’s composed of a non-Newtonian polymer with an intelligent molecular structure. So clever in fact, that it has been adopted worldwide by the military for its power in impact protection on the battlefield.
We call it IMPACTOLOGY …the science in protection.

Why do you need it?

A day without your mobile phone, tablet or laptop can have a dramatic effect on your life, business and livelihood!
Impactology was born through our passion to evolve with the ever-changing needs of our customers, who demand the best protection for their mobile electronic devices.
Only Impactology gives you this unique level of advanced protection. It’s the culmination of years of research, development and testing that, frankly, borders on the obsessive. We continually strive to find fault by stress testing, analyzing and looking for new ways to advance the levels of protection.
Through our dedication and passion, you’ll discover that the mobile electronics that add value to your day are always in safe hands with Impactology.

Installation of the iPhone 5 involves inserting the right edge of the iPhone 5 into the case and then pressing down. The four corners of the Impact Snap with Cover should lock onto the iPhone 5.

To remove the iPhone 5 simply lift the top left and bottom left corners of the case off the iPhone 5.

Once housed within the Impact Snap with Cover, the iPhone is securely in place while providing access to all of the buttons and controls.

The flip cover rests over the phone’s screen until you’re ready to use it. This cover flips all the way back keeping it out of the way when you are actively working with your iPhone 5.

There is plenty of room around the camera on the back of the case.

While the design of the case is elegant, I couldn’t help being reminded of an old school calculator when the cover was closed, while others may look at it as a small notebook.

In terms of protection, the Impact Snap with Cover provides plenty of coverage as all sides of the iPhone 5 are protected especially when the case is closed.

Having a cover also keeps prying eyes away from your phone when private texts or messages pop up on the screen. Also as a Smart Cover user on my iPad, I’ve becpme spoiled with the instant on and off features of that cover, unfortunately this case does not offer that feature, in fact no iPhone 5 cover cases do.

The polycarbonate back feels solid and looks like it can take a fair amount of punishment. The leather cover on the other hand is more prone to getting scuff and damaged, but the point of a case is to protect its contents, which is what the Impact Snap with Cover does.

Conclusion

The Impact Snap with Cover from Tech21 is an excellent compromise between style and protection. The case is low profile enough that your iPhone 5 still feels like a phone and not a large brick like some other cases.

I generally do not like iPhone cases with covers as I find they usually get in the way. However, the Impact Snap with Cover does an excellent job of making the cover feel unobtrusive.

If you are looking for a well-designed and solidly constructed iPhone 5 case then the Impact Snap with Cover is a pretty good option.

As the world becomes more digitally based, data management and protection is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Network Attached Devices are a great way to manage and backup personal or business data since they can act as central repositories. Over the past several years we at TestFreaks have reviewed numerous such devices.

Synology is one such brand that markets NAS servers designed for home offices ranging up to large scale businesses. From our experience they have proven to be one of if not the best designers of network attached storage devices. While their hardware is top notch its their interface – DiskStation Manager (DSM) the OS of their NAS servers that makes these boxes special.

The Synology DiskStation DS713+ is the latest version of their small and medium size business oriented NAS. This model replaces the impressive Synology DiskStation DS712+, which we reviewed last year.

This NAS has advertised speeds of 202.3 MB/sec reading and 135.84 MB/sec writing speed under RAID1 configuration in a Windows environments via Link Aggregation. In addition, the DS713+ now has USB 3.0 ports that were found on their consumer DS213 models.

Besides upgrading the hardware with a dual-core Intel Atom D2700 processor clocked at 2.13GHz using 1GB of DDR3 memory. Synology has also updated DSM to version 4.2.

Synology uses an interface that should feel familiar to most Windows and Linux users since it is built on the Linux platform. New features found in DSM 4.2 include QuickConnect which bypasses port forwarding for the DS Cloud, DS Photo+, DS File and DS Audio, Cloud Station 2 that allows syncing of nearly unlimited shared folders for file sharing, for files up to 10GB, DS Photo+ which allows automatic upload your photos from your mobile device to your DiskStation.

For the business and power user, DSM 4.2 provides support for Amazon Glacier, an affordable backup to the cloud, LUN Clone and LUN Snapshot to help increase Admin productivity, VMware vSphere 5 VAAI certification, as well as certification for Windows Server 2012 on x86 models such as the Synology DS713+.

The best part of DSM 4.2 is a free upgrade for other Synology NAS box owners.

Synology DiskStation DS713+ Review

Synology shipped us a unit preloaded with two 1-TB hard drives packaged in a plain brown cardboard box as opposed to the standard Synology packaging. Checking online we see for its retail packaging Synology has switched to the green and white box as seen with the DiskStation DS213.

The Synology DS713+ is offered as a bare unit or with drives preinstalled. On the website is a list of compatible hard drives if you wish to buy a bare model. As a dual drive unit the Synology DS 713+ tops out at eight terabytes. Synology offers expansion bays with two and five bays. For instance the Synology DX513, a five bay expansion unit that allows up to 28 TB to be run off the DS713+. For even more capacity you can use external drives via the free USB 3.0 ports on the back.

Opening the box we find the Synology DiskStation DS713+ sandwiched between two foam inserts along with the power cord, AC adapter, two LAN cables, installation disk, Quick Start Guide and screws.

The unit is composed of matte black metal with glossy black plastic panels on the front and rear. Synology’s design aesthetic has always aimed for a minimal and professional style and this NAS keeps that trend going. The Synology DS713+ feels right at home on one’s desk or tucked away in a corner.

The Synology DS713+ measures 15.7 X 10.35 X 23.2 cm and weighs 3.7 lbs without hard drives installed. Its predecessor, the DS712+ came with an Intel Atom D425 single core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and 1 GB of DDR3 memory while this version packs a 2.13 GHz dual-core Intel D2701Atom CPU using the same amount of RAM.

In terms of appearance, the form factor of the DS713+ looks almost identical to its last year’s DS712+. In fact when the two devices stand side-by-side the only differentiation between the front panel and sides is the Synology logo printed on the top front of the DS712+.

On the front of the NAS are two drive trays with hex locks to keep the hard drives locked into place. While not the most secure locking mechanism, these locks should deter any accidental or intentional removal of hard drives. Synology provides two keys for locking and unlocking these bays.

Our review box came preinstalled with two Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM models. Adjacent to the right side drive are LEDS for Status, LAN1, LAN2, along with a USB Copy button, USB port and Power button.

Here is a look at the inside of the Synology DS713+ without the drives in place where you can see the motherboard and a single laptop size stick of 1 GB DDR3. According to some online research the 1GB DDR3 memory module can be upgraded to a 2GB stick such as the Kingston KVR1066D3S8S7/2G.

The sides of the DS713+ have the Synology embossed name with a mesh underlying it to help provide additional airflow.

On the back of the Synology DS713+ we find a 92mm fan with a noise level of 19.2 dB (A), dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, eSata port, reset switch, a Kensington lock port and an AC input. The newest additions to this back panel are two USB 3.0 ports. Now you can take advantage if the faster USB spec when attaching additional storage to the NAS.

For those who wish to increase their storage capacity the available eSATA port can connect to either the five bay expansion DX513 or the two bay DX213.

Four rubber feet on the bottom keep the Synology DS713+ from sliding around

If you’re looking for the best protection for your phone then one name usually pops to mind and that’s Otterbox. I know when I spend a few hundred dollars on a phone or any other device I want it to be protected and I don’t want some inexpensive or cheap case doing it, I want the best as I want to protect my investment. Really if you think about it, if you buy a smartphone it’s an investment, not just some gadget, it’s something that you’re going to have with you all the time. These days our phones are our lives, they are our link to our personal and social lives, sometimes it’s a bit too much so, but I guess it’s not a bad thing. Today for review I have one of the latest cases from Otterbox, the Commuter Series, for one of the hottest smartphones on the market today, the HTC One. This is a case for those that want the best protection possible for their phones but yet still want to be able to access it with ease. The Commuter Series for the HTC One can fully protect your phone, the case is tough and sturdy and Otterbox was kind enough to even include a screen protector so your phone will be truly protected. Read on to learn more…

Otterbox Commuter Series Case for HTC One Review

The Otterbox Commuter Series case comes in a plastic box with a nice big window on the front and some information on the back for you to read about the case inside.

Inside you’ll find the case in a clear plastic tray for protection.

The case comes with a small user manual and a small black folder.

Inside that little black folder you’ll find the screen protector that Otterbox included along with instructions, cleaning cloth and a squeegee.

The Commuter Series case I got for review is black, but you can also get it in a white and gray color. The inside of the case is rubber to protect the phone from bumps and drops and pad it basically.

The back of the case is textured for grip and has a semi-gloss look to it. The back is hard plastic to protect the phone inside.

The Commuter case comes in two parts, the rubber soft inner case and the hard outer case.

Up for review today I have another CPU cooler, but this one liquid based. Cooler Master has sent over the Seidon 120XL all-in-one liquid cooling system which is a closed loop setup that requires virtually no maintenance from the end user besides blowing the dust out of of the radiator every once in a while. The Seidon 120XL features the ability to use one of two of the included 120mm fans, how many you use will depend on your needs of course, but I found that using either one of two the Seidon is very quiet and performs extremely well at keeping the CPU cool either at stock or even at overclocked speeds. The Seidon 120XL is very well made and fairly easy to install as well. So read on to learn more and how everything works…

Cooler Master Seidon 120XL CPU Water Cooling System Review

The Seidon 120XL comes in a nice big and sturdy box with big picture on the front and information on the back.

When you open the box you’ll be greeted with everything nicely and safely arranged in a cardboard tray.

Once you unpack the box you’ll find two fans, instructions, the Seidon 120XL itself and a bag full of bags and accessories.

Here’s the contents, more bags and accessories.

There are two brackets included, one for AMD and one for Intel.

The same goes with the mounting brackets, one set for AMD and one set for Intel installations.

Included in the bag you’ll find a double ended 4-pin fan adapter so you can connect two fans to one fan header on your motherboard.

Cooler Master was kind enough to include a tube thermal compound as well, it’s a small tube but more then enough for a few applications of it.

In the five smaller bags you’ll see more installation hardware, specifically screws for the mounting brackets and fans installation.

There are two 120mm fans included, but they also include rubber vibration dampeners for each of them. The two fans are model a12025-24rb-4cp-f1 which have a maximum speed of 2400rpm and a minimum speed of 600rpm, they are both PWM fans so they can be controlled automatically by your motherboard as the need arises.

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed any CPU coolers here on TestFreaks, not sure why, but I’ve got one now from Evercool called the Silent Shark. This cooler is big and it includes two 120mm fans that help to keep you CPU cool. The cooler also has a very unique feature that allows the user to angle the front fan up and outwards letting it clear the ram slots allowing you to use ram with larger style heatsinks on it. The cooler performs very well overall so read on to learn more and see just how it performs against another cooler….

Evercool Silent Shark HPO-12025 CPU Cooler Review

The cooler is big so the box for the Silent Shark is big. The box has a nice window to show the cooler along with a handle for easy transport. There’s plenty of information on the sides and back of the box as well.

Inside of the box you’ll find the cooler in a clear plastic box for protection, a small white box that contains the accessories and the installation manual.

The Silent Shark comes with a plastic fan shroud over it with two fans, one on the front and one in the middle.

Here’s the side and back view showing the middle fan a little bit better and the back of the cooler and fins. I should note the two fans do run at different speeds.

Then here’s the top of the cooler and you might notice the hinge towards the front.

The hinge is special in that it allows the front fan to be angled outward. There is a pin that screws out and there are two holes in the fan shroud that hold the fan in place in either position.

Here’s a few views of the front fan in the angled position for you:

The cooler has six U-shaped copper heatpipes and a copper base. In the second picture you can get a closer look at the mounting bracket as well.

The shroud is held on with four screws and you actually need to remove the shroud to install the cooler in your system.

Protection for tablets can come in many shapes, sizes, colors and forms and not all are created equal. Up for review today I have a case that I would consider extreme protection for your tablet. This is the case that was dropped from 100,000 feet with an iPad inside of it and the iPad survived unscathed. Now that’s what you can call extreme protection surely! The case is the G-Form Extreme Edge Case and it’s for the iPad & 10.1″ tablets. The case uses a special material that reacts when force such as a drop is applied to it. It’s normally a soft almost gel like material but when force is applied it hardens instantly for protection of whatever is inside of it. So read on to learn more…

G-Form Extreme Edge Case for iPad & 10.1″ Tablets Review

The G-Form Extreme Edge case comes in a rather large plastic box, I was very much surprised by how big the box is for a tablet case or sleeve.

The back of the case is unique looking for sure. The material the case is made of is Poron XD and it’s a reactive protection technology that is soft but when force is applied it hardens for protection. You can push on it easily and give, it feels kind of mushy, but if you smack it hard it actually hurts. I pushed on it with fingers and it gives fairly easily but then I rapped on it with my knuckles and it hurt as it hardened and it felt like I was smacking a solid surface.

Here’s a closer look at the back:

The inside of the case is black cloth material that shouldn’t harm the tablet inside. It does feel like there’s padding in there but the whole case is essentially a big pad of sorts really.

On each corner of the inside you’ll find a thick padded flexible tab. The four corners of your tablet go under the tabs and that’s what holds it in place.

The case only weighs about six ounces so it’s rather lightweight but it is sort of thick. It feels and looks very well made overall.

As a tech reviewer there are times where one can become jaded reviewing the similar types of products and accessories. Every so often a new and unique product comes along to liven things up. Escort a company known for their radar detectors have released a peripheral for iOS devices that turns them into miniature digital TV receivers. The Escort MobileTV is a dongle that plugs into the 30 pin dock connector creating an over the air signal TV receiver.

The Escort MobileTV includes a built-in rechargeable battery, which means the device will not siphon off the charge from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Since it captures over the air signal there is no need for 3G/4G, Wi-Fi or data plan usage on your device’s part.

It works with Dyle mobile TV which currenty does not require a subscription fee. Their coverage map is limited so make sure you check it out before picking up this accessory.

Currently users of the iPhone 5, newer iPads, iPad Mini and 5th generation iPod Touch are left out as it uses the older dock connector. However my contact at Escort mentioned that a dongle compatible with the new dock connector will be available sometime later this year.

Escort MobileTV iOS TV Adapter Review

The device comes in a cardboard package with an image of the Escort MobileTV along with it being used in conjunction with an iPad on the front. On the back is a list of features, package contents and system requirements as well as iOS devices compatible with the peripheral.

Opening the box we find the Escort MobileTV receiver, an antenna, a USB charging cable and a quick reference guide.

The Escort MobileTV is a black dongle measuring 1.3 x 1.6 x 0.5 in and weighing 0.65 oz. On the front is the Escort MobileTV logo with a LED battery indicator on the bottom left which is red when charging and green when fully powered. On the top is the 30 pin dock connector while on the opposite side is a micro USB charging port and an antenna connector. On the back we see the serial number.

I got a new phone if you didn’t notice yet, it’s the HTC One and it’s a great phone. When it comes to accessories for something like the HTC One Mobile Fun is the place to go and they’ve put out their very own what you might call a starter pack for the new HTC One owner aptly named The Ultimate HTC One Accessory Pack. This accessory pack contains pretty much everything you need to get going with your HTC one at home and on the go. This pack contains six items if interest including two of what I consider the most important items, a case and a screen protector (actually they give you five screen protectors!). In the pack you’ll find a desk stand, car charger, portable desk stand, case, car holder and screen protectors. It might truly be The Ultimate HTC One Accessory Pack and best of all it’s inexpensive at about about $30 for everything. There’s more than enough stuff in here to get your started using and enjoying your new HTC One…

Today for review I’ve got another Wicked Audio product, the Heist in-ear earbuds but these are not just for you to use as they come with an in-line audio jack so you can connect another set of headphones to them to share your music. The Heist earbuds are priced at under $20 and I wasn’t expecting much from them, but they’re surprisingly good sounding. So read on to learn more…

The Wicked Audio Heist earbuds come in a sort of double box, the front part is a slip cover really.

Inside the box you’ll find a plastic tray holding the earbuds and the extra covers in place.

The earbuds I got are mostly white with black accents and black bud covers.

There are three sizes of covers that comes with the Heist, two on the side and one already installed.

The Heist earbuds are special in that they have an extra audio jack in-line so you can share your music with your friends. They also have a clip as well so you can attached them to your collar or shirt or wherever.

The earbuds are labeled with L and R for left and right and they have the Wicked Audio logo on them.

The buds are plastic and lightweight and overall they seem well made.

The cord is about four feet in length and it ends with a gold plated audio plug.

it’s easy to share your music, just connect another headset and you’re ready to go. There’s not much else to this really, plug and play, literally!

I used the Heist earbuds with my ZuneHD and my HTC One for testing.

The Heist headphones cost under $20, on Amazon they were listed as $17.62 at the time of the review and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much at all from them for such a low price but y’know what, these are a pretty good set of earbuds!

I was very much surprised by just how good the Heist earbuds sound, they offer a full range and it’s very crisp and clear with little to no distortion at high volumes. There’s a nice balance or bass and treble with full sound overall.

The Heist are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, the earbuds are soft and once you find the correct fit for you they’re just fine.

Conclusion

The Wicked Audio Heist in-ear earbuds are very inexpensive and I was very much surprised by just how good they sound. They offer a nice full range of sound and they help to keep the noise out. For under $20 you can get a decent pair of earbuds, and it’s not often you can say that really.

Sure there are better options, but you’ll spend a lot more money, I don’t think you’ll find a better pair of earbuds in this price range that sounds as good and are as well made.

These earbuds are comfortable for long periods of time and the cord is nice and long.

The extra audio port can be useful if you want to share your music with your significant other or your friends.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive set of earbuds, then I can honestly recommend these.

Up for review today I have headphones, not just any headphones, but the new EVAC from Wicked Audio. The EVAC headphones are budget priced yes, but they sound pretty good overall. The headphones are made well, they’re lightweight and they comes with nicely padded earpieces and headband so you can wear them comfortably for long periods of time. The headphones can are also collapsible so you can easily take them with you if you need be. So read on to learn more…

The Wicked Audio EVAC headphones come in sort of a double box, well it’s cover on the actual box.

The box does have a little window so you can see the headphones and of course there’s specs and features listed in it.

Inside you won’t find much, just the headphones and a user guide.

You can get the EVAC headphones in black, white or green and the ones I got are black.

The EVAC have a nice padded cloth headband for comfort.

The headphones have a rather large range of adjustment so they should fit everyone.

The earpieces have the Wicked Audio logo on each of them. The earpieces are plastic and seem sturdy enough.

Each earpiece is nicely padded for comfort as well.

The cord is four feet long and it’s braided with a gold plated connector on the end. The braided cord is rather important to me, it doesn’t tangle as easily and it’s more sturdy than a regular one is.

I use headphones for a variety of devices, not just my MP3 player. I tested the EVAC headphones with my ZuneHD, PS Vita and my HTC One along with my computer as well.

So let’s start with comfort here. The headphones do have a nice cloth padded headband which makes them comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They are very lightweight, so you really don’t feel them on. The ear pads are soft and very padded, they cover your ears almost fully and they do keep a lot of the noise out.

The sounds quality is a bit questionable with the EVAC. They sound hollow to me, that’s the best way to describe it. It’s mostly bass, with not much treble at all really. I like a nice balance of the two, and these really don’t offer it sadly. The sound isn’t bad overall, but it’s just missing something. The headphones can get nice and loud though, and there’s not much distortion at high volume levels.

The EVAC can also be folded for travel, but I think a case would be nice for them, but then again for under $25 you really wouldn’t expect a case.

Conclusion

The Wicked Audio EVAC headphones are very inexpensive, coming in at under $25. The headphones are well made, the headband and ear pads are comfortable, they’re lightweight and overall they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

The EVAC headphones though do sound a bit hollow to me. I tried them with three different devices and it was all the same. The main issue I think is that they don’t offer much treble, it’s mostly bass and I personally like to have a nice mix or balance of the two and these just don’t seem to offer that. Some people like bass heavy music, and that’s fine but even with the heavy bass they sound rather hollow.

The cord is nice and long, coming in at about four feet, making it good enough for most any use I would think. The headphones are also collapsible making it easy to transport them if need be.

Pros:
+Low priced
+Comfortable
+Keep some background noise out
+Loud

Cons:
-Sound rather hollow
-Not much emphasis on treble
