When I was little I was totally obsessed with batman. I wanted nothing more than to be part of his entourage. I think I still want that. Very cool, this looks like awesome! I think the plastic batarang looks good scuffed up. It looks like it was well used in battle.

What a bunch of whiners!!! I just got home with mine and i like it. I can see the
UK guys complaining because their version sucks. I guess the only complaint i might have is the fact the batarang doesun’t come off of the stand, other than that it is very kool. The leather journal is really kool and the game rocks. Oh and I only paid $89.99 for my copy. Sorry guys it’s just a game that came with some toys. I always buy the collector’s edition of games. I have the Fallout 3 and Resistance 2 and I can hardly wait for the God of War 3 to be released. They are just toys guys, relax.

I have to agree that is was dissapointed with the fact that is wasn’t a metal batarang, the fact that it is scratched i figured that it was meant to look like that so that it would look like it had been used. The quality on the plastic batarang could have been better but i don’t regret paying the extra money on the collector’s edition for the fact that i judge it on the entire thing cause i absolutely love the journal and the case. I think those two things are great so i really don’t care about the batarang that much i paid for other editions that have let me down much more and besides i have hate batman games and this rocked i have played it three time already.

man, this really feels like a letdown. i bought the ps3 set thinking it was an untarnished metal batarang lol. but really, what ticked me was the nonexistent effort in making Penelope Young’s journal. i mean, warner bros put so much effort into damaging the damn batarang, but didn’t bother to try and create a more realistically aged journal? these guys probably tried to nail the experience by damaging the batarang but please, if the consumer can’t take it off so he can mount it on his own then what in the world is the point of doing it? overall it was an ok product but i hope they really really learn from this package.

Game makers in future should show us wot were getting not just a touched up photo too make something look ten times better than wot it is we need close up shots like the one on this page and maybe even a video stream from the internet or downloaded from xbox live or ps3 online service.

That way we can have more of a heads up to wot the collectors sets are really like before we part with our cash in future for me i wait till its in the shops before i decide i will be more or less sticking to standard versions from now on.

One last thing i didnt expect it to be a metal batarang a plastic one with abit more thought but into it than this one would have been great.
Shame the one i have looks like a 2 year old has dragged it off walls for years and the fact you cant take off the stand is a big disapointment they would have been better just giving us a 1hr of batman cartoon dvd as a extra to this batarang and would have been cheaper to buy as well.

It is as if they took the subpar US edition, and found ways to cut costs even more. So, our inmate journal is not leather bound. The game digipack doesn’t even have a slipcase. And it is all housed in a big cardboard box. Slightly disappointing!

A lot of eyes lit up when Eidos announced that the Collector’s Edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum would include a full-sized Batarang. The $100 price tag threw a bit of cold water on the news, but hey, it’s a Batarang!

Except it’s not really a Batarang at all, it’s a cheap hunk of badly-scratched, molded plastic glued to a stand. The scratches are apparently intentional, to give it a degree of authenticity by making it look as though the Caped Crusader himself has used it extensively in his never-ending war against crime; unfortunately, as one observer noted, it looks less like battle scars and more like somebody dragged it behind a car for an hour. Michael Thompson of Ars Technica noted that some of the scratches actually reveal white plastic underneath.

Perhaps even more disappointing, it can’t actually be removed from the stand without breaking something. Not that you’d necessarily want to use it to fight crime with but let’s be honest here: No nerd in good standing wants a Batarang he can’t pick up and wave around every now and then.

Complaints have started to pop up across the internet, including on the official Eidos forums, where at least one user is trying to drum up support for a refund or replacement. The problem, of course, is that once the box is opened and it’s discovered that the Batarang isn’t quite up to snuff, any opportunity to take it back is gone because retailers, by and large, won’t accept returns on opened software.

This wouldn’t be such a big deal if the Collector’s Edition was priced $10 more than the standard release, but for a $40 hike it tends to sting a bit. Opinions will vary, of course, and you may be more or less satisfied with it than the next guy. Bottom line is this: If you’re not 100 percent sure that you want this thing, check it out in the store before you cart the box home. You might save yourself a few bucks.

Ive got there address so iam going to write to them if i fail in getting another boxset to see if its the same again with another copy of the set it looks like a great boxset but once you open it you see the truth that it hasnt been made right or at least very poorly and should never have been allowed to have been sold like this at all.
A total letdown to batman fans and gamers of all ages that have been waiting months to get this set wasnt worth the wait at all.

I never said anything about wanting a metal one i get that its agianst the law to have a metal one unless you do make one yourself clearly.
The fact of the matter is that its all scratched totally marked and by the looks of this page and comments left by others and the review iam not the only one when it shouldnt be like this ive also tried getting a contact number or email address for the game makers but there is no details on there page to leave a email or two make a call to complain that i can see.
Plus now that its open i cant return it i dont think so anyway you cant see the damage of item till you open up the box itself anyone reading this and thinking of getting one avoid please its that bad i wouldnt display it because anyone looking at it would think its damaged the way it is .
Also is there anyway reading this that didnt get a scratched batarang????????
