It's fine with me if it's a supersized iPod Touch: When you're reading anything substantial it's better to have large blocks of text displayed. I'm looking forward to purchasing one. I use my iPhone all day long for myriad tasks and entertainment. I expect the iPad will improve upon that experience. As for the name: I NEVER think of menses when I use the word pad in a sentence. Of course I'm not a fourteen-year-old. People are going to love this thing for what it CAN do.

You commenters should learn to spell. Even when you make a good argument the reader has to step back aghast at the verbal gaffes that pepper your paragraphs.

The thing is a piece of junk, obsolete hardware that Apple sells for a premium price and tell everybody is a innovation. Apple has allways overstated, over priced, under equipped its devices. They use the same market Bs as Microsoft does with its Os's. Frankly i am tired of playing the upgrade os every couple of years because they are greedy. Both companys rely on hype to sell there products. the problem i have with Apple is there over pricing for the same or similar hardware, propriety design so u have to buy from there supply leaves no third company to sell compatable hardware which dosnt help the current economic situation. There Os is based on linux has many open source code they used in its creation and they call it different. Only thing thats different is the look, the code is same. they use to have their own OS and hardware that was unique but they now have chosen to used intel cpus, i would say they are no different today then Hp,Gateway and others. Id say there Apple has rotten when they introduce a piece of crap like this and glamorize it. Now if you want to buy a overprice house to an Ipad, go a head its not my money. let the comments of apple users fly

First off these were not arguments, but my "opinions". I was not reviewing anything, just stating what I thought the downsides to the device were.

As for the name, I gave a perfectly good alternative "the Apple Tablet", which seems to get the idea across. iTablet would have been fine too, but that is apparently owned by someone else. So that is out.

Yes, I own an iPhone and numerous Macs and am aware of the strengths and limitations of the devices.

I am not rooting against this product and actually said that the second and third generations of this product will probably be more in line with people's expectations.

How can your arguments possible be valid with actually demoing the device? Let me guess, you make assumptions about all the products your "review" before actually "testing" them? Some "freak" you are.

Jumping on the iPad name bashing is pretty juvenile too, it's all the rage with the school kids. When was the last time anyone mocked a note pad? or a think pad? or the MyTouch (myself) ? A name is what you make of it.

I'm assuming you're an iPhone user, when was the last time you wished your iPhone could multitask? Those apps behave nicely because they are the only thing running. It's all about user experience and user perception. Does the user really care that when they click the home button or switch apps that the application is no longer in memory? As long as your save and restore the state quick enough the user doesn't care that it actually quit and reloaded. Apple got this right. I think it's one of their best kept, out in the open secrets. It's so OBVIOUS that the competitors just don't get it.
