This is partly due to personal abuse of the phone, and otherwise utter folly. You see, my friend Lukkas has a Honda that only has a cassette tape deck in it, and when we would go on road trips together having to listen to some of the radio stations in parts of the midwest was sheer torture. I wish one of us had a tape deck so we could have made tapes to listen to, but unfortunately we didn’t. We would go on trips across multiple state lines going to music events here and there, and for music we would usually use the 8gb SD card in my phone, which was loaded with music. It doesn’t play very loudly against the backdrop of a motor running and cars & scenery flying by on the highway, so I would routinely take my blackberry pearl out of it’s protective rubber like casing & battery cover off the back so there was nothing blocking the tiny speaker. We would listen to reggae music while I held the phone as close to the middle of the car as possible so we could both hear it well. Well my arm got tired after a while of doing this and I realized that my blackberry was almost the exact same size in height & depth as a cassette tape… so I inserted it into the cassette tape deck with the speaker pointing up and towards us and it worked great! Many a road trip was spent with my phone hanging out of Lukkas’ cassette tape deck rocking some righteous tunes. And then on a different road trip with my friend Wally, who was borrowing his mother’s conversion van, I realized the same conundrum was upon us, radio stations were sucking, and we were listening to the mp3 player on my phone, and then I realized that he had a cassette tape deck. So I jammed the ol’ blackberry right in there and we rocked out for a 500+ mile road trip to the phone once again. We got to our destination and I went to pull the blackberry out of the cassette tape deck, only to realize it was horribly jammed in there. It dumbfounded me at first because it always worked so well in Lukkas’ car. I moved it around in different directions, tried jimmying it out with a splint, got frustrated and tugged it a bit hard and it started giving way.. After about 20 minutes of trying to get it out without utterly destroying my phone, I winally got it out, but the entire bottom plastic piece below the keypad remained in the tape deck, as well as some other small parts i didn’t recognize. I got what I could out of his mother’s cassette tape deck (which I was *very* happy to hear didn’t work in the first place) and reassembled my phone as best I could. There is still a bit of plastic sticking out of the bottom, some metal I never found the home for that goes somewhere near the battery compartment, and my phone now shuts off whenever it feels like it. It also cannot connect to a computer without shutting down, so there is no way to backup any new stuff I have on my blackberry, I’ve resorted to copying it all down by hand on paper. I need a new phone because using my current one is complete pain in the butt right now, and it shuts off on me almost every time I use it, which has gotten very annoying during conversations, which I hardly ever have over the phone any more because of this. Even when I try texting it will shut off, but it’s less annoying than getting cut off mid conversation.

The moral of the story is to only use your Blackberry Pearl as a cassette tape in a Honda.

I droped my phone that i have now in the water and it wont even turn on. So the phone that i have now is the Sony Ericsson W580i and i loved that phone and i had to drop it in the water. And my boyfriend took me up to AT&T to see was i able to get an upgrade and i was because i had the phone for a year and they wouldent let me get another phone because it was my fault why the phone messed up but it wasent it fell in my sisters puppies water bowl and i didnt think nothing of it until i came out the bathroom. When i saw it going off i thought that it was going to blow up because it was on the charger when it fell in t he bowl and it was very hot. So that day when my boyfrien took me to the AT&T store i went to my friends house and let her see the phone and come to find out she just droped her LG VU in the water so we both was messed up because we both didnt have a phone so can you please help me out since AT&T wont.
