I never understood why they actually banned talking on the cellphone (holding to ear) while driving. I know that cellphone usage isn't the only reason why people are involved in accidents. They're only using it as a distraction to the general public into thinking that the government actually cares; they allow law enforcement, fire, medical, and probably various others, to use the phone (holding to ear) while driving. Personally, I don't see them driving any better than any other person.

Now, texting while driving, I can understand because you really have to take your eyes off the road to text, but is texting any different than you reading signs or billboards? You're still taking your eyes off the road.

Don't forget to ban having kids in the car because that's extremely distracting, especially a newborn. And the noise you hear outside the car, man, that's really distracting. Engine noise, wind noise, road noise. And what about all those people that stand at overpasses that try to protest? That's so distracting. And those green, yellow, white, and red signs all over the place in various shapes and sizes, they're so distracting to me because I'm forced to read them. And what about those signs with arrows and numbers on them? You constantly have to read those signs and not pay attention to the road...

So do we ban people riding in the car talking to the driver too? What about the radio? Maybe we could ban smoking too, as that surly is a distraction. Maybe we can ban all the dials and guages on the dashboard. No? That is required for the safe operation of the vehicle? Well, with the same logic, we should ban all road-side signs (but not the ones required for safe operation of the vehicle) and advertising.
