The new phone service payLo from Virgin Mobile is $20 for 400 minutes a month and that isn’t bad at all.. If you look at AT&T you’ll see it’s about $50 per month for 400 minutes, and that’s about the average for other carriers as well. That $20 includes voice mail caller id and text messaging, but you’ll pay for the texts of course per usage. They’ve got two phone already the LG101 for $19.99 and the Samsung M340 for $39.99.

With payLo by Virgin Mobile, there are no activation or termination fees and no long-term contracts.

- For those customers who use their phone less frequently, a second option of adding $20 maintains an active account for 90 days and allows customers to take advantage of the basic rate of 20 cents each, for a monthly cost to consumers that can be as low as $7.
