I agree with those that praise the off-road "Free Ride" mode of traveling around the various maps and the myriads of tracks throughout the games. However the Career mode is truly a horrendous ordeal even at the easy level the authors of this game have created a nearly impossible array of bullies, ridiculous scenarios of improvised slow downs, divergent side tracks whereby a person cannot hope to win as the driver fights off the bully rigs deliberately slowing your vehicle down or dverting it off course. As if that were not enough the game does two things that can only be descrtibed as totally wrong. If your vehicle strays ever so slightly from its course it is not only snapped back onto the course, but it is also held motionless until all the cars or other vehicles you have passed, repass you with an added burst of speed and new found energy when yours seems at that very moment to run out. You would think that if a game has a rule that covers straying from the path like this one does, you would expect that to apply to the game AI vehicles also, not so if you are lucky enough to get out ahead for two of a three lap course you will get the shock of a lifetime as one of those bully rigs, come flying in out of the area that would constitute a straying from the track and squeezes in ahead of you to pass through the finish gate before you. I give this game five stars backwards. I am truly disgusted with what should be a very good racing game, but instead it has become some perverted programmers instrument of torture. I hope no one as old as myself has a stroke from the stress the Career mode puts them through.
