The DXG-595V is not so good in sound recording. When you play back your work, you will find there is obviously noise. If you want to get clear sound recording, another DXG model DVH-A80 or RICH HD-A85 are strongly recommeded for your consideration. Has anyone tested the sound quality. I like to record live rock bands–very loud–does the sound quality stay clear at high volume?

Have seen some post about the battery. I have a Kodak Dx6490 Camera, it takes the KLIC-5001 battery. This battery is 2000mAh, and it does work with the DXG-595v camcorder. It last alot longer than the battery that came with it. Just thought I would add this, Chris.

Kristofer – Nice review. I’m considering using a basic HD camcorder as a security camera. Can the DXG 595v stream live video through a HDMI port and can it be operated via a power cable instead of the battery?

I ordered mine from Amazon.com this week and they shipped the model reviewed here (with 20x zoom and glossy black finish), although the pic on Amazon is of the other model. Perhaps some vendors use an outdated photo?

My camera does the same as Issacs, just makes a noise like a coffee grinder and blurs in and out of focus like it’s been drinking for three days straight. Anyone find a solution to this yet? The firmware update from DXG didn’t help.

Has anyone been able to find the 20x zoom & glossy black finish. I checked with bestbuy.com but they do not carry this brand. If this is the same as the 10x can someone explain it to me please.

Hey uhh… I’m really kind of annoyed with the auto-focus feature when taking videos.

I tried making a video thing of me talking or whatever and it just makes this obnoxious humming/buzzing noise and zooms in and out constantly. Anyway to override that?

Transfers no problem at all, though I normally just pop out the memory card and use my card reader.. as for editing programs I use Cyberlink Power Director 7, so basically any program that can edit the .MOV files will work

how readily does the video taken on this camera transfer via USB to a pc for editing? ill it use any program for editing? i pretty much just want to make car videos and video tape me and my friends doing funny stuff and make DVDs of it. how well can this camera do that?

The best thing to rember about this camera is its only $200 The 1080P setting does have its issuses, but compare the video from this camera shot in 720P to the Sony Webbie and the Sanyo HD100, both these camera have a $200 price tag and are a “name brand” camera. Most will chose the DXG 595v with 596 firmware update. I more than happy with the camera I bought, when using the 720P (60fps) mode. My friends and faminly are impressed with the videos that I have takin. I should add, I’m using the Rich HD D10 which looks just like the DXG 595v and has the same specs. There is also the HD 8Z. All three camera look the same and maybe are. The AVForums reveiw is a joke! You must compare apples to apples. they are comparing hotdogs to steak! Sure this camera does not perform this a $900 Sony or Sanyo, Thats a “No Brainer”
