I got my 610 out, set up and intuitive, and one in the installation instructions, then check out the features. Works great, solid feel, I get a better feel of the 610 paper handling, and comparable HP8500. I do not know the cost of ink / use, but that is it.

NOT HAPPY EITHER - I've only had this printer about 3 months - can't find the stupid receipt or it would be back to Staples. I keep getting a paper jam error as well - Epson says they can't fix it and to return it. There's nothing wrong with this stupid printer, but I can't use it. I doubt I will purchase Epson again.

We just did the same thing. Were you able to get a replacement? What did you do to get it working again?

This Printer Sucks. I have had it for over 6months now, I upgraded the driver on my pc, I went back to the drivers that came with the cd. I have tried everything possible to make this printer work but it just doesnt.
Stay away from this printer it is a rip off.

Hi, I am looking at a few printers and not sure which to purchase. These are my choices: Canon MX 870 All-in-one, Canon Pixma MX 860 with 9600 x 2400 dpi, Epson Artisan 810 Colour, Epson Workforce 610 and Brother MFC 5890cn. I need transparency setting, greater scanning quality and great picture colour. I see you reviewed the Canon MX 870 and the Epson Workforce 610. Of the printers I am looking at which would you highly recommend? They all seem so close in quality that I am not knowledgeable enough to determine which in fact is the better quality.

Thanks in advance,
Doris

I purchased the Workforce 600 a little over a year ago and it has served well. Here are a few things I have noticed.
FAXING - Works well over our VOIP service, something the HP this unit replaced often choked on. However I still have not figured out how to fax directly from the computer even with the help of Epson tech support. I must print then fax, wasting paper, ink and time.
SCANNING - Excellent speed and quality (1200dpi) with decent and easy to use software.
PRINT - I have printed everything from eBay receipts to photos and bumper stickers. I have had a few occasional paper jams; however this seems to be consistent with using bargain paper. Usually only takes a few seconds to clear and we are back in business. Ink usage seems to be about average for an Ink Jet, if you print photos or set it to "Best Photo / Glossy Paper" the printer gets very hungry. Setting to "Photo & Text" works well for most of my needs. The ink in these things will outlast us and several generations without fading. If you aren't concerned with ink quality you can get ink deals for generic replacement cartridges on eBay, 16 cartridges for the price of 4 OEM Epson cartridges. Of course this does void your warranty but I have had no problems other than noticing colors (including black) are not nearly as deep and rich. Output of Epson ink onto Epson paper is simply stunning, near perfect and aftermarket cartridges can’t compare.

COMPLAINTS - Borderless printing smudges the edges of prints making this feature almost pointless. You may have to print 3 or 4 copies to get one that is acceptable if you want a borderless image. The manual duplex is almost a joke. I can see their marketing guys sitting around laughing at us... "Tell them it has duplex and we will give them instructions on how to flip the paper over." Of course I didn't expect auto-duplex for this price but come on, don't make a joke of the situation. Also if you do try double sided prints it will NEVER line up. No matter what adjustments you make to your image it will always be off 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch horizontally and vertically. I assume this is due to the cheap plastic feeder tray not keeping the paper aligned.

Overall I would highly recommend this printer for the price point it can be purchased at these days.

I got my 610 out and set up intuitively, while glancing at the install instructions and then checked out the functions. Works great, feels solid, I get a much better feel for the 610's paper handling then the comparable HP 8500. I wonder about the ink costs/usage but that is about it. I got it from Staples for $99 and think this is a lot of printer/all in one for the price. I needed a change from HP products.

Well, I'm scared now. I just bought a 610 Thursday and spent most of the day getting it setup (my bad). It's worked like a charm ever since though (knock on wood). After reading the comments I'm starting to think I got the exceptional printer. No jams, no scanner problems. I did get the no hassle warranty at Staples were I just walk in with it an say it doesn't work and get a store exchange.

At this point, I couldn't be happier. Let's hope it stays that way.

I cleared a paperjam in my 610. The foam pad tore and now I have big streaks down the right side of the paper. Any idea where I can get a replacement?

The Epson 600/610 has fatal flaws. My mother got a paper jam and while correcting the jam she broke something inside inside the 600 that feeds the paper now it doesn't work. Not Epson's problem at all. We bought a 610. We were wanting to bulk upload pictures. So, I said I'd use the scanner function of the 600 while she used the 610. Nope. Because the cartridges were uninstalled, we cannot put them back in the 600. The 68 cartridges that came with the 610 don't fit in the 600 although it says it does. We have to use 69. only problem 69 blue ran out so thrown away.

We cannot use the scan function on the 600 because no ink cartridges are installed. What does that matter.
