Go to your local electronics store. look around. Just about, if not every package you see will advertise the product, point out it's key features, and what the product does. The box for the FakeTV accomplishes the same thing. The stores set the box on the shelf and people look at the label to find out what the product is and what it does. If it was sold in a plain brown box, no one could tell what it was, so therefore, no one would buy it.

My friend told me about this, and at first I thought it was sort of a joke. One night when I dropped him off, though, I saw a TV on and asked him if he'd picked up a roomate. I guess the joke was on me. I bought one. FYI, it came in a box with a smilar label shown above (but actually with a lot more information), but this was inside a larger non-descript shipping box. I wonder if the box shown above is also just the "inner" package?

It might be a good product, but WHAT NERVE they have advertising their device on the outside of the shipping box! I mean, let's broadcast it to everyone at the post office, including the mailman, that we're buying this device. I hate it when companies put their advertising needs above the security needs of their customers.

How do you use it if you also have a light on a timer? Would you just set the lamp timer to, say, go off at 8:00 p.m. and then have this device set to "Dusk + 4 hours" so when the lamp timer went off at 8:00, it would then be dark enough to trigger the device to come on and stay on until midnight?

Not all thefts are committed at night... but it is a well thought out product none-the-less.
