All the thief has to do is boot from a CD or external drive, and Lojack is rendered harmless. The PC version is different and embeds itself in the BIOS and thus is harder to remove. I was wondering the same thing. But I believe it goes a bit deeper than that. Even if someone were to have switched the hard drive, the computer is still registered by SN among other electronic identifiers.
