Kristofer…. does Nero 9 really allow a user to burn AVI files so ay DVD player can actually see them as movies like it states in the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yGGjX0AyAg&feature=player_embedded

I use Windows XP but according to this video it works the same on XP.

I love Nero 6 and 7. Have used them for years. Don’t have a problem with 8. It has a few more features than 7 (such as Lightscribe Template) and have never had a problem installing it. Nero 9 however….. I’ve just about given up trying to install it!!! Can’t get past 20%, even with a fresh install of Windows XP. Maybe I’m better off staying with the older versions after reading these reviews.

Hi everyone, have had lots of versions of NERO,some came with DVD writer and now have NERO 8, no problem burning CD discs or DVD discs, but beware as older DVD writers will only burn one type of disc either minus or plus discs, modern writers will burn either, my concern with NERO is you can copy MP3 audio to computer but you can not make an MP3 disc to play in car, I bought Roxio meadia creator 7 a few years ago and it lets you do everything,only problem it will not work on anything after XP, so keep older computer for burning discs, and have WINDOWS 7 on new computer and transfer audio files via flash drive to burn on XP.

I have to agree with those critical of Nero 9. I tried to install it on my aging XP SP3 machine, 1 GB RAM, speed of 2 GHZ. After 2 hours the install got stuck at 74%. Every function on my computer became brain-dead. Even “My Computer” took about 5 minutes to respond to a click! I even became afraid that the file contained a virus. I then in desperation hit CTRL-ALT-DEL during the install and rebooted. I finally discovered the clean tool and removed it successfully after wasting about 4 hours. It now feels very good to vent about this.

Well my experience is that Nero is a heap of shit and their so-called support is the most ill-named group of dopes I have ever come across. I regret the day I bought it and advise anyone to never make my mistake. It pushes its way in to activities in which I do not want it involved and then refuses to open files. I can’t move it from its bullying place at the head of options and it takes it into its head to suddenly refuse to do basic things.
And as for the requirement to use a cleaning tool — Gods spare us

Moe- It’s funny that you comment should appear now, it reminded me that I actually needed to add another comment… I upgraded to Windows 7 a while ago (64bit version) and I never had a need to re-install Nero 9, but just did two days ago and it took me about 30 minutes to install it, that’s including downloading two new batches of updates as well..

and I don’t have a guilty conscience, it’s a non-biased review based on my own experiences and I still stand by it.. and I know I shouldn’t have responded to those comments, but it gets frustrating at times, I let myself be dragged down to their level.. a moment of weakness you could call it..

Kristopher, you’re biggest mistake was entertaining any of the comments that attacked you. You talk of integrity yet you lost yours completely when you decided to retaliate. That’s a big no no, chief. Big…

As for the guy that claims “the customer is always right”, pull your head out of your ass. It doesn’t matter what venue you strike up as an example, the customer isn’t always right. I worked in sales for over 5 years and i was #1 at my company for 4 of those 5 years. first year i was new and was simply learning. The customer is NOT always right but that doesn’t mean you, as a rep, don’t do everything you can to make the best of a situation for the customer. I’d be glad to site specific examples i’ve dealt with but it would be wasted on $h!t stains like those who believe “the customer is always right.”

But yea Kris, you never should have responded. Only a guilty conscience feels compelled to defend itself. You may not have been paid but you were compensated in one way or another. i know tihs for a fact as i am friends with the guy who runs the site pcperspective.com. He gives non-biased reviews of everything he works with as well.

Best of luck Kris… considering the base level you’ve allowed yourself to be dragged down to by the beta-minus mouth breathers who’ve countered your review… you’re most definitely going to need it… as well as a lot of alcohol to keep your nerves calm.

Help!

I just bought a Sony 24X DVD burner and when I installed Nero 9 that came with it, it only reads at 1X.

Have I installed the thing incorrectly?

Just install Nero 9 on my computer and takes about 15-20 minutes. Its new program (burnt only few disk) and so far run fine. I thing Nero 9 need fast computer. I’m not sure if this program will work OK in future.
System is Win7 Ultimate / 8 GB RAM/Quad-Core X9770 Extreme / GeForce GTX 295

Insane time to install and then 45 mins to uninstall. Unacceptable.

Using free DVD burning software with small footprint w/o all the bloatware.

ImgBurn is thy name. Works just fine and installed in less than 25 seconds.

System is Vista w/ 3 Gb RAM and Dual Core AMD 64 4800.

Nero… go screw yourself.

I’m in the nero 9 sucks crowd, then again, I had issues with nero 8 too. Nero 7 rocked… twice bitten, yeah, I must be an idiot. Now that we got that out of the way… for the basics, it’s OK. I had no install issues so that’s a plus but that could also be due to my past skeptism that made me waited until some initial reviews (probaly paid for) were out and only after a couple of patches to the initial release were out, before plunking down some greenbacks.

My issue, video editing. I decided to go cheap (hence the Nero aquisition) instead of buying Adobe Premier Pro xx (whatever the latest is… I stopped using it after 1.5). My mistake. Nero9 craps out on some HD video, others, it can handle… and don’t even get me started on the CODECS. I was told (by Nero) I needed to upgrade (buy some ad-on crap) so I did… the issue was never resolved so I got burned on additional expenses.

Now, my real issue is resolving the issue I just described (Video support) previously and it’s with the operations side of this fine German software powerhouse. Customer Support in the US is no longer available (at least 2 months ago) via phone (Meaning i can’t rip someone a new rectum). You deal with them now via e-mail, diagnostic log etc… (ie let’s outsource this (op’s) to India etc…) and I swear, it’s been over 3 months now and I’ve not heard back… I know this got “lost” (wink, wink) in the queue, the current situation makes my Nero8 issues seem so trivial.

I live to read the news that this company has filed for bankruptcy because that’s the path I see mgmt. going down. To bad too… Nero 7 really was a superior product. Oh, the glory days…. Rome did not fall in a day.

ive got 2GB memory,my hdd is 25o GB, its a aspire m5100 with over 70% memory and when i had NERO 8, no probs whatso ever. installed NERO 9 over a month ago and every time i use nerovision, my computer shuts down. now after speaking,emailing and bollocking nero, who by the way, have given me nothing but excuses, ive decided to take legal action against them. this is obviously a con and a way for those tossers to make money out of a product i used to admire.
NERO, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON????

I have Nero 9. It seems to work OK, yes its big but no real complaints.
Nero 10 is in the wings, the beta is out
