Can Pinnacle upgrade this device FireWire.?

Anyone know why this product isn’t available anywhere right now? Did they come out with a newer version and phase out this one?? Is there a good alternative?? Need to get something like this (at similar or lower price) urgently.. thanks!

You didn’t even try to transfer a higher quality video, like from a Hi8 movie camera?
Not a word on how to stop the recording at the end of the tape? One needs to babysit it?
No software included for editing video?

And most important: How does the quality of the video compares with other analog to digital conversion devices from Pinnacle and from others?
