I’m sure you own a digital camera, pretty much everyone does these days right? Depending on the type of camera you have it might not use standard batteries, and that can be a hassle as you don’t readily have access to a spare. I take a lot of pictures and go through batteries quickly but I haven’t got the chance yet to get a spare battery from my Nikon Coolpix. Recently I was contacted by a company called BatteryHeads.com and they asked me to review one of their brand of batteries under the brand name TechFuel, and I said sure. They were also kind enough to send me along a travel charger with it. So read on for a quick review of what I received.

Nikon Coolpix S570 Digital Camera Battery Charger
TechFuel Travel Battery Charger for Nikon Coolpix S570
This TechFuel Travel Digital Camera Battery Charger for the Nikon Coolpix S570 Digital Camera meets or exceeds the original manufacturer part specifications. This TechFuel Battery Charger is manufactured using the highest quality components and includes both AC and DC power connections.
The battery and charger comes in small boxes.
This particular model of battery can be used for more than my Nikon Coolpix S570, it fits other cameras as well. It looks just like the stock battery but just a different label.
The TechFuel battery is pretty much the same as the stock Nikon one, except for the specs. The TechFuel is 3.7v and 650mAh and 2.2w, while the Nikon is 3.7v and 740mAh and 2.8w. The specs are close, but not exact.
The charger is a travel charger that comes with an adapter so you can use it in your car. The adapter plugs into the back in the small hole you’ll find there. This kind of charger is much more useful than the one that came with my camera I think, I can take this one with me anywhere really and have power in my car or on the go.
On the bottom of it you’ll find a flip out plug. The original Nikon charger has a long cord on it that’s not attached permanently, but I much prefer this style as I don’t have to worry about losing the cable.
The battery itself clips into the top and you can charge it then.
The charger has an LED indicator on it that turns red when charging and turns green when the battery is fully charged.
I charged the battery, it took an hour or so and it was done, the same amount of time the stock battery takes. I used it with my camera and took a lot of pictures as that’s the only way I know how to test the battery. The TechFuel battery didn’t last quite as long as the Nikon did, but it was close. I would suspect that’s because of the lower specs of it.
The TechFuel battery costs $9.95 from the Battery Heads website while the cheapest I found the Nikon brand battery is $15, so it’s a little less expensive and with slightly lower specs. Still it’s worth it I think to have the spare battery.
The TechFuel battery and charger are not bad really. The battery is less expensive than the Nikon OEM and it lasts about as long.
The charger is very convenient as it can be used at home or in the car.
The quality of both products is very good I think, I’m happy with them.
+Battery appears to be same quality as OEM
+Charger is very convenient
+Less expensive than OEM parts
-Battery doesn’t last quite as long as OEM
