I have a 60mb/s Extreme card and in a quick test it transfers 1.5gb of data to my MacBook Pro in 30 seconds (that's 50mb/s), compared to doing it in almost 1 min 30 seconds with a USB card reader. UDMA cards will always be about the same speed, or slower, than standard cards in USB readers. If you really want to make the most out of them you HAVE to pair them with FireWire 800 card readers (or USB 3 once you can get them). I've just ordered an Extreme Pro like the one you talked about here and will be speed testing that asap and writing an article and making a video to demonstrate this very point.
