Apparently some people sell fake CF cards on eBay, just a basic card with a fake label.

I've just bought one of the 32GB cards from an eBay seller, but my Canon EOS 400D did not recognise it at first, then after formatting it, the capacity is only shown as 945MB. I've tried reformatting it on my laptop, but it is still showing the same capacity. Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going wrong and how to fix this please?

You should have tested this card with a FireWire 800 card reader! I have a 60mb/s Extreme card and in a quick test it transfers 1.5gb of data to my MacBook Pro in 30 seconds (that's 50mb/s), compared to doing it in almost 1 min 30 seconds with a USB card reader. UDMA cards will always be about the same speed, or slower, than standard cards in USB readers. If you really want to make the most out of them you HAVE to pair them with FireWire 800 card readers (or USB 3 once you can get them). I've just ordered an Extreme Pro like the one you talked about here and will be speed testing that asap and writing an article and making a video to demonstrate this very point.

I bought the SanDisk Extreme 32GB CF (non Pro) 60 MB/s. This card is much slower writing data than the Extreme IV 16 GB card. The Extreme IV 16 GB card scored 32.6 MB/Sec read and 24.7 MB/Sec write. The Extreme 32GB card scored 30.7 MB/Sec read and 18.7 MB/Sec write. This was using a Kingston 19 in 1 USB reader model FCR-HS219/1.

I noticed that while the Extreme IV 16 GB card transferred to my Sanho Colorspace UDMA backup at around 37MB/second, for some strange reason the Extreme Pro 32 transferred at only 26 or so MB/second. Instead of being faster, or at least the same, it was much slower!!

Has anyone else noticed this or something similar.

I bought it for a friend. The price is high but for a professional earning good it's a good investment.
