Hello,

i bought two Seagate NAS 110, this product is amazing, read speed is very very good on a Gigabit network (100MiB/s) write speed is still fixed at 20MiB/s). The first one is for films, music, game etc, the second is for backup. The software given by seaget is powered by acronis. You can backup an image of your hard drive (like Ghost) an retore it with a boot CD.

Well i'm very happy ;)

Bye

ps : sorry if i have do some syntax mistake, i'm french

NOT(!) FAST!!!
We've got the NS110 with Firmware Version 1000.1081.We love it for the nice UserInterface, much Functions and cheap/fair price (119,- Euro in 09/2011 for 2TB Version).
But espacially with FTP (write) it seems to have a speed limit of 1000kb/s.Writing by SMB (Windows Protocol) never exceeded 9,500kb/s., Reading was never above 14,500kb/s.That's (awful) slow.. because that would mean: Filling the entire Harddisk would take 58 (!)hours, reading out 38 hours... My own Linux-Server, build by myself, writes 50-60MB/s (!) and reads up to 70MB/s.. thats 5x faster..

We have this model and I was wondering if you could tell me what it means when one of the two blue lights on the front go from being blue to orange? The check mark is still blue the other indicator light has turned orange. I can't find anything about that issue in the users guide either.

HiHi guys, I have one of theese BA disks. Im pretty satisfied with the performance. I had one big problem with MediaSort (all music collection went to one directory :( ) but now its fixed with new firmware.

The problem with speeds are not because of network but protocols.
My setup is:
1Gbit router (Linksys E2000),
NAS Seagate BA 110 1GB (FW: 1000.1081),
Laptop with Gbit port and UbuntuOS,
PC with Gbit port and Win7 Home Premium

Ive tested all 3 protocols - NFS, FTP and Samba (Windows) sharing

On Win7 (using Total Commander):
FTP - 60-70MB/s (480-560Mbit/s)
SAMBA - 10-11MB/s (80-88Mbit/s)

On Ubuntu (using "mount"):
NFS - 55-65MB/s (440-520Mbit/s)
FTP - 60-70MB/s (480-560Mbit/s)
SAMBA - 10-11MB/s (80-88Mbit/s)

So if you have problem with low speeds just try not to use windows mounted drives and use FTP or NFS protocols instead.

I reviewed the below comments (all of them). I am rolling with the Seagate NAS 110 with Firmware Version 1000.1081 (latest) I have to say I'm not impressed with it. It has a very slow transfer speed and frequently dies when transferring 3 to 10GB .avi files. I wanted some security around the share(s) but after a visit to the Seagate support website it seems like flipping everything to Public stabilizes the file transfers. I've done this and still had it puke on transfers. I get a variety of different errors, Path to Deep, Network Name Unavailable, etc. copying from a windows XP box (SP3) to the NAS unit. I added the unit into DNS and am now trying copying with the anti-virus (MS Sec Essentials) turned off, in hopes to slowly identify what is causing the stability issues. Perhaps yet another firmware release will fix these problems. However, I am concerned that the .avi's (wedding not personal videos, you sickos) will be corrupted.I reviewed the below comments (all of them).
