I recieved my pico c 5 minutes ago. It is now unrecognisable in win 7. Without exageration I have written a single text file (If found please ring...). And it did not get a chance to save because it unmounted. Ridiculous says it all. I suppose there is no quality control with super talent.

Definitely not recommend this product to anyone. What a waste of time.

About Super Talent 200X Pico-C.

In my one year experience with these drives I have noticed that they behave quite different. This is probably related to the batch, as I bought them in pairs and the differences show between different pairs.

I use 10MB files for tests, forcing complete transfers each time, and so far I got:

* Two 4GB Pico-Cs with an effective transfer rate of 9 MBytes/sec. They used to get very hot, and stopped working after 3 months of intensive usage.
* Two 8GB Pico-Cs that did 13 MB/sec. Also hot 'til it burn out in a few months.
* One 16GB at a really nice 15 MB/sec. Not so hot, and still alive after 3 intensive months.
* Two 'new' 16GB doing a relatively poor 5 MB/sec.

The last batch is disappointingly slow. They also have a different look and packaging: while the old ones exhibit straight rectangular USB contacts, the new ones have them rounded and thicker, similar to what's shown on this page but without the two tiny extra contacts.

While looking forward to get more like the 16GB at 15 MB/s; I will also try some of the more expensive with 'guaranteed' min writing speed because this is the bottleneck in my system.

I've bought the Pico-C and while its very James Bond-esque, the write speed is terrible. The test given above with 256MB files is not a fair test because it does not test latency (time between files). Transferring hundreds of very small files (< 100 kB) I am achieving less then 0.1 MB/Sec transfer rates. Aweful. I would NOT recommend this product unless you only transfer large files (eg. images) or you just want a cool gimmicky pen drive.

[...] Super Talent Pico-D 8gb USB Drive A couple days ago I took a look at the Super Talent Pico-C USB Drive, today of review I’ve got the Pico-D 8gb USB Drive for review. It’s a small sized USB drive, though not as small as the Pico-C , but it’s close. The Pico-D is a swivel style drive, the outer casing is metal and the actual USB drive is plastic and it swivels out from the metal and just like the Pico-C, the Pico-D is water resistant as well as rugged and durable. ____________ Review: Testfreaks [...]
