Lisa, if the computer goes to “sleep” when you close the cover or or “hibernates” when the battery runs low, the wifi card doesn’t seem to wake up properly when you open the screen or plug in the charger. Even using the control panel doesn’t seem to wake up the wifi card after a “sleep” or “hibernate”. You can tell it’s still turned off because the green wifi light (on the front right edge, just to the right of the “3G” light) is off; that light should blink green if the wifi card is on. Restarting the netbook turns on the wifi card again. I have fiddled with the power settings to try to avoid this, but it’s still quirky unless I restart the netbook.

Yes, Emily. I upgraded the LT2016U from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) for my 7th grader (also got one for my 4th grader!). Hope you got yours already. Upgrading is a little tricky; you have to install new drivers for some of the hardware, such as the Atheros wireless (wi-fi) card. Before you upgrade, make sure you’re up to date with all XP updates and back up any important stuff to an external drive (the netbook has no disk drive). My kids keep their schoolwork backed up on a USB thumb drive, which they can take back and forth to school.

Yes. Works fine for both. I’ve upgraded to Windows 7 (32-bit), which was a little challenging, but standard web browsing for these and other sites works fine with either the original Windows XP or upgraded Windows 7.

I got one of these at Big Lots too…lucked into it. A girl had them holding it and couldnt get the $199 to pay for it. I snapped it up and put a full install of Ubuntu Lucid on it. Dont waste your time with the netbook edition of Ubuntu.

It performs great and I love the portability and battery life. IMHO it was money well spent.

I got mine at BigLots! I havent bought a new computer in sonething like 15 years!! I’m almost glad I waited because this little sucker is great. I agree with the review – Not GREAT !!!! – but great. Now if I could just figure out why I cant import smallbasic programs…….

I bought this netbook from Ebay. Everything is fine except Wifi…It doesn’t see it! I mean, in device manager there is “network adapters” place, where Atheros ……. Wireless network adapter hides. I don’t have it! How can I force my netbook to see it?

I have misplaced my manual and warranty information and I can’t recall where they might be. I am still getting acquainted with my netbook, but I need a replacement manual/warranty information.
