thats one wat to do it, if the source or monitor has DVI, you can always get a dvi male to hdmi female converter and a hdmi cord and hook it all together and your set as well, the official microsoft vga cables are too pricey in my opinion. like 40 bux. but if you only have a vga port then your stuck to get one of those vga converters
